NewsUnder the slogan “Growing. Together”, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) has formally begun their campaign to host the FIFA World Cup in 2034. This statement is a major step towards Saudi Arabia's goal of hosting the 48-team competition for the first time as a single nation. It comes after the country submitted a signed declaration and an official letter of intent to FIFA.
In addition to the nation's rapid progress, the campaign highlights the possible effects of hosting the World Cup on both international football and the tournament itself. The bid is built on three foundational pillars — Growing People. Together., Growing Football. Together., and Growing Connections. Together. These pillars highlight how the nation, its citizens, and the international football community are all growing together.
Saudi Arabia has hosted more than 100 international football tournaments in almost 40 different sports during the last six years, establishing active ties with more than 100 nations. SAFF President Yasser Al Misehal emphasised the value of presenting Saudi Arabia's football story to the globe, emphasising the nation's positive developments in men's and women's football.
With its entwined ribbons forming the number '34' and encircling the nation's map, the bid's emblem represents Saudi Arabia's youthful vitality, cultural variety, and wealth. The colours of the logo, which stand for different aspects of Saudi history and goals, are Desert Amber, Oasis Green, Radiance Red, Rich Lavender, and Sunrise Yellow.
The bid is accompanied with a short video that highlights the Kingdom's love of football, cultural variety, and beautiful scenery. The film is narrated by Saudi women's national team midfielder Layan Jouhari and features music by MDLBEAST, a major Saudi band.
With the help of more than 130 Member Associations, SAFF hopes to convince FIFA of their case by forming a specialised bid unit under the direction of Hammad Albalawi. The proposal is a reflection of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 commitment to using sports for both international engagement and national development, as seen by the FIFA Club World Cup, which Saudi Arabia successfully hosted in Jeddah in December 2023. This proposal represents Saudi Arabia's path to becoming a major player in international sports, using football's ability to bring people from all walks of life together in celebration of their common wealth and progress.
