The 15th General Conference of ICESCO, a specialised organisation that works under the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and is concerned with education in Islamic countries, will be held in the Kingdom in 2025, according to a statement released by the General Secretariat of the Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science. The Kingdom has filed a proposal to award scholarships to 200 deserving students studying at Saudi institutions around the Islamic world beginning in the next academic year.
The declaration was made at the 44th ICESCO Executive Council session, which the Kingdom, through the Saudi Commission, was hosting. On Wednesday, the summit in Jeddah came to an end.
The governor of the city, Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, was present at a ceremony in Jeddah to commemorate the news.
The commission's Secretary-General, Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Bulaihad, emphasised the Kingdom's commitment in advancing international education and the leaders' support for ICESCO's work in his opening remarks at the event.
