Saudi Arabia has been selected to host the 11th World Water Forum in Riyadh in 2027, demonstrating its dedication to tackling local and global water concerns, improving quality of life, and managing water resources sustainably. The World Water Council had a meeting in Türkiye where the Kingdom's proposal was declared successful. Italy had lost the voting process.
Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, affirmed that the country's success in meeting social, economic, and developmental objectives in spite of water shortage is demonstrated by its hosting of the forum. He emphasised how vital the National Water Strategy is to building an all-encompassing institutional framework and efficient planning to guarantee the supply of cheap, safe, and high-quality water.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's amended Water Law seeks to promote sustainable water management practices in line with the goals of Vision 2030 by improving access to clean and safe water for all, while also encouraging increased engagement from the private sector. The triennial event of the World Water Council provides a crucial venue for cooperation between the water sector and influential politicians, with an emphasis on long-term improvements in global water crisis solutions.
