NewsSaudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman has urged the international community to help some nations overcome energy poverty. "The issue is moral, and it affects over one billion people who lack even the most basic means of energy," he stated. Energy poverty is characterised by a lack of access to modern energy services. The minister made the statements during a conversation session on the margins of the 14th Clean Energy Ministerial Meeting and the 8th Mission Innovation Meeting, both of which were hosted in the Indian state of Goa.
On the margins of the conference, the minister announced the signing of a collaboration agreement with the Clean Energy Forum (CEM) and the Innovation Mission Initiative (MI) to solve global energy, economic, and environmental concerns. Prince Abdulaziz and Raj Kumar Singh, India's Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, co-chaired a roundtable discussion on Green and Low-Carbon Hydrogen, as well as a conversation session on lowering emissions from all sources.
It is worth noting that Saudi Arabia is an active member of several international climate change organisations and forums, including the Net Zero Neutral Producers' Forum, the Global Methane, Climate, and Clean Air Forum, the Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum, and the Energy Innovation Mission. These participations affirm the Kingdom's active role at the international level in confronting the effects of climate change and contributing to international efforts to reduce emissions by diversifying the Kingdom's energy mix and promoting the use of clean technologies for all energy sources, including renewables and hydrocarbons.
