The 2023 World Economic Forum (WEF) report states that Saudi Arabia has improved significantly, with a score of 5.7 on the Road Quality Index (RQI). With this accomplishment, the Kingdom is ranked fourth out of the G20 countries. RQI assesses road network quality, contributing to user safety.
Saleh Bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, credited the leadership's steadfast support and the efforts made to keep the Kingdom at the forefront of the world's road network connection for this achievement. He emphasised the need for leadership support in order to fulfil the challenging goals set forth in the national transport and logistics services plan included in Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, as well as to increase road quality, operational efficiency, and safety.
The exceptional progress in the road sector in 2023 was emphasised by Badr Bin Abdullah Aldulami, Acting CEO of the Roads General Authority (RGA), as a contributing factor to this success.
According to RGA, the Kingdom's RQI increased significantly from 5.2 to 5.7 in the WEF report, marking the fastest growth rate among G20 nations at over 10%.
