NewsUsing artificial intelligence techniques, Saudi Arabia opened the Arabic Intelligence Center on Monday in Riyadh. The first artificial intelligence facility dedicated to the automatic processing of Arabic is this multinational facility. Operating out of its headquarters in Riyadh, the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language is the only institution of its kind in the Kingdom dedicated to serving the Arabic language.
In order to compete with other languages around the world in computer systems and applications, the automated center offers a range of technical and linguistic services as well as consultations in the area of processing Arabic using artificial intelligence.
The center will offer its services to everybody with an interest in Arabic, both locally and globally, and it will promote the creation of high-caliber, high-impact research and innovations in the domains of language development and computers. It creates efficient applications for the automated processing of Arabic, offers the data system required to use AI mechanisms to support Arabic, and makes use of a network of specialist labs.
In line with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 to attain worldwide leadership in this field, the center will offer a meaningful contribution to the attainment of the National Strategy for Data and Artificial Intelligence's aims.
Five primary laboratories comprise the Arabic Intelligence Center, and it is up to them to carry out the goals and duties of the establishment. This is the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, which is dedicated to creating advanced computational research on the Arabic language. Second, there is the Data Formatting Laboratory, which is dedicated to gathering Arabic data—written, audio, or visual—and categorizing, processing, photographing, and guaranteeing its accuracy.
Recording, processing, storing, and categorizing audio and visual data is done in the Audio and Visual Laboratory. In order to build Arabic software using virtual and augmented reality, the fourth one is the Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Laboratory. Researchers in all of the aforementioned specializations are welcome to use the fifth one, the Researchers Laboratory, as office space when conducting research on Arabic computers is required.
The center offers a variety of services, such as paid licenses to researchers, support for studies that overlap with its goals, and assistance with labeling data for collaborative research. It also holds meetings and courses specialized in the field of artificial intelligence-based technical and linguistic consultations regarding the processing of Arabic language. Additionally, the center aims to accomplish certain critical objectives concerning the study of linguistic computing at the King Salman Academy.
