Saudi Green Initiative; 150,000 trees planted in Saiysad National Park, Taif, as part of a national program

One of the goals of the Saudi Green Initiative is to plant 10 billion trees nationally. The National Centre for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification has completed planting 150,000 trees at Saiysad National Park, Taif. The trees were Vachellia flava, jujube, acacia, seyal, and acacia asak. Plants like henna and dodonaea were also planted.

One of the biggest and oldest land parks in the Makkah region, spanning 28 million square metres, had eight distinct locations for the project. Taif's centre is located around 15 kilometres northeast of the park. The historic Saiysad dam is connected to its name. This unique wildlife reserve is encircled by mountains that are covered with thick forests and a lot of greenery.

In order to further enhance the park and attract investment and public services, the national centre launched several community and voluntary afforestation and cleaning projects in addition to providing 17 short-term investment possibilities in park regions. Campers and caravans are also welcome in the park.

The centre strives to prevent illegal logging throughout the Kingdom, detect encroachments on vegetation, manage and invest in grazing land, forests, and national parks, and develop, preserve, control, and rehabilitate places with damaged vegetation. It also aims to conserve natural resources.
