Saudi Minister of Sports and President of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, has attended the start of the 15th Arab Games in Algeria in 2023. The Games, which Algeria will host until July 15th, were inaugurated by Prime Minister Ayman bin Abdulrahman, who was joined by Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, the head of the Saudi delegation, and a number of officials from the participating countries.
During his speech at the ceremony, Prince Abdulaziz conveyed the greetings and appreciation of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, and their best wishes to Algeria's leadership and people, as well as all Arab youth and athletes.
He also thanked Algeria's government and people on the country's Independence Day, which coincides with the start of the 15th Arab Games. The flags of the League of Arab States, the Federation of Arab National Olympic Committees, and the 15th Arab Games were raised at the opening ceremony. It also featured several creative and popular acts, as well as a march in which over 2,200 athletes from 22 Arab countries took part.
Saudi Arabia has more than 180 male and female competitors competing in 17 events, 14 Olympic and three Paralympic.
