Saudi won the most medals at the World Artificial Intelligence Competition for Youth held from December 2 to 3

The World Artificial Intelligence Competition for Youth took place at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology from December 2–3, with the Kingdom taking home the most medals. Wednesday was the results' announcement day, according to WAICY on X. Eleven medals were won by the Kingdom, ten by the US, two apiece by Greece and India, and one apiece by Canada and Singapore.

The Saudi Data and AI Authority, in partnership with KAUST, arranged an event in the Kingdom that drew in over 18,000 students from 40 countries.

The three competition tracks—AI showcase, AI-generated art, and AI large language model—represented the Kingdom and included students from general education levels, including elementary, middle, and high school, from the Misk, Dhahran, Madac, KAUST, Aramco, AlUla, and NEOM schools.

The Global Outstanding Organisation Award was given to SDAIA and KAUST in recognition of their dedication to the advancement of AI education.

This is one of the biggest competitions in the world, and SDAIA was the first to adopt it in order to promote young Saudi citizens and give them experiences that help them comprehend artificial intelligence (AI), recognise its significance, and identify its effects on different facets of life, all the while encouraging them to pursue careers in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math).
