06 Sep 2023
NewsThe Health Volunteer Centre at the Ministry of Health announced the beginning of the second phase of the rehabilitation programme to assist Umrah pilgrims and guests to the Two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah. The centre made it clear that the programme is intended for 700 medical professionals, both male and female, in addition to 70 supervisors who are specialists and academics.
The programme is a part of Meras, the center's most recent Health Service-Learning Project (H.S.L.P). During the Hajj and Umrah seasons, the programme uses the most recent approaches to blend medical education and service-learning into focused volunteer health opportunities. The initiative intends to improve the quality, dependability, efficiency, and performance of the volunteer medical services offered to visitors of the Two Holy Mosques.
This action is a result of efforts to improve the effectiveness and impact of volunteering. It is remarkable that the rehabilitation programme included more than 1,000 volunteers and 70 supervisors. During the first stage of the 2023 Hajj season, there were 35 supervisors and 300 volunteers.
The Meras programme is regarded as a potential way to develop a variety of skills, including community service and life skills. In addition to showcasing a positive element of humanitarian assistance for visitors visiting the Two Holy Mosques, this also helps the health volunteer's professional identity and national identification.
