Self-driving flying taxi was officially launched on Wednesday by Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA). For the year’s Hajj pilgrimage, pilgrims will be transported between the Holy Sites of Mina, Muzdalifah, and Arafat by an innovative new service: the world's first electric air taxi service.
GACA President Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistics Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih, Director of Public Security Lt. Gen. Muhammad Al-Bassami, and several other pertinent authority representatives attended the launching event. A tiny commercial aircraft known as an air taxi operates brief trips based on demand.
The GACA-licensed electric air taxi is the world's first air taxi. In addition to helping pilgrims travel more easily in an emergency, flying taxi services would also help with the transportation of medical supplies and aid with logistics by moving cargo.
Among the 32 contemporary technologies used for this year's Hajj, the air taxi experience is one of the transportation and logistics system's initiatives. This is part of the system's attempts to accept contemporary technologies and utilise them to provide the greatest services ever for believers.
