Smart devices to diffuse fragrant aromas have been installed on the sidewalks and pathways of Prophets Mosque

The Madinah Region Development Authority (MDA) has installed smart devices that automatically release aromatic smells into the air on sidewalks and paths used by pilgrims visiting the Prophet's Mosque. The smart air fresheners are also positioned near stores on the northern side going to the mosque. The Saudi Press Agency has been monitoring scenarios generated by the Humanising Cities programs and projects performed by the government to benefit visitors to the Prophet's Mosque.

These initiatives are part of the authority's attempts to beautify the urban landscape surrounding the mosque and make it more appealing to pilgrims and tourists. Materials that contribute to lower temperatures were employed in the development of the new projects in the central area, trees were planted alongside roadways, benches and seating spots were given, and sidewalks and pedestrian walkways were surfaced with non-heat absorbing marble.

Unauthorized public vehicles are not permitted to access the core area in order to keep temperatures cool. To promote pedestrian traffic, all routes and walkways connecting the area's hotels and the mosque courtyards are open.

245 umbrellas with misting fans cooling open spaces are dispersed around the mosque's northern, southern, and western squares. All of these efforts are made to offer pilgrims and tourists a healthy and safe atmosphere.
