NewsTwo professional credentials in the areas of financial fraud assessment and accounting standards for the public sector have been introduced, according to the Saudi Organisation for Chartered and Professional Accountants (SOCPA). This is a component of the organization's ongoing initiatives to improve openness and integrity in different public and private sector entities, including regulatory authorities. The Saudi Arabian accounting and auditing profession is governed and pioneered by the SOCPA, a professional association.
A financial fraud examiner's proficiency with the professional skills and theoretical knowledge required to investigate financial investigation procedures and analyse fraud operations is assessed through the Financial Fraud Examiner certificate. Along with battling financial fraud and advanced investigation in this sector, the certification test covers a wide range of issues linked to financial fraud, including financial statement fraud, asset theft, corruption, conflicts of interest, and other forms of financial fraud.
Candidates who hold a bachelor's degree or any higher qualification in accounting, economics, administrative sciences, law, and regulations from accredited universities and colleges are also eligible to take the test. Professional certificates recognised by SOCPA and fellowship certificates from recognised international professional bodies are also acceptable.
The Professional Certificate for the Accounting Standards in the Public Sector seeks to assess candidates' proficiency with the accounting standards that the Kingdom has approved for the public sector, as well as their familiarity with the standards' theoretical underpinnings, availability of relevant practical skills, and application ability. It is also intended to gauge how much they understand about professional responsibility and the standards they must uphold in carrying out their responsibilities in all areas linked to its implementation.
The test targets the qualified group of holders of a bachelor's degree or any higher qualification in the designated specialisations, and it covers public sector accounting standards at six levels.
