NewsWith effect from April 21 in certain places around the Kingdom, the Transport General Authority (TGA) announced the beginning of automated surveillance of traffic infractions by trucks and buses.
This covers a variety of vehicles, such as cargo transportation, rental trucks, international transport buses, and bus rentals. The objective of the recently implemented directive is to improve road safety and increase the percentage of trucks and buses that adhere to the rules and specifications established by the relevant authorities.
In order to meet the goals of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services, this helps to increase the calibre and effectiveness of the services offered, guarantee their consistency, and lower carbon emissions rates. It also has an impact on the expansion and sustainability of the public transport and logistics industry in the Kingdom.
Operating a truck or bus without acquiring an operating card, running a truck or bus with an expired card, and operating a bus that has reached the end of its operational life are among the infractions that the TGA has stated would be automatically monitored starting on April 21.
The authority affirmed that the plan for the automated monitoring system for truck and bus infractions, which is in conjunction with the advanced traffic safety project, complies with the TGA's directive for planning and arranging transportation-related events and progressing towards the digital transformation project, one of the authority's strategic objectives.
One of the most significant regulatory initiatives is automated surveillance, which uses cutting-edge technology to build the transport network and aligns with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 to raise living standards in all of its cities.
