The Green Riyadh Program kicked off in Al-Uraija on Thursday with afforestation work in the city neighborhood

The first of four massive projects in the Saudi capital, the Green Riyadh Programme, began afforestation work in Al-Uraija on Thursday.

This is a continuation of the Green Riyadh project's tree-planting initiatives throughout the city's residential neighbourhoods. Al-Uraija is the fourth neighbourhood to see the project get underway.

Greening projects are anticipated to begin shortly in the Qurtubah, Al-Ghadir, and Al-Nakheelm neighbourhoods, where implementation contracts have already been signed.

Details of the neighborhood's afforestation programme were revealed during a gathering held at Al-Uraija. The event, which contains details about the phases the project will go through before completion, was created as an interactive trip for the guest.

The occasion demonstrated to the locals how the neighbourhood will change as a result of the afforestation project.

In addition to planting 37 km of roads and walks, landscaping in Al-Uraija will begin with the planting of 110,000 trees in 30 gardens, 19 schools, 46 mosques, and 70 parking spots.

More than 120 residential neighbourhoods are the focus of the programme. The designs for afforestation projects were created based on worldwide standards while taking the local environment into consideration.
