The Qiwa platform has started a new service of facilitating payment of work permit fee through credit cards and mada debit cards

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development's Qiwa platform has begun offering a new service for easing payment of work permit fees using credit cards and mada debit cards. The sum can be deducted from the employers' Qiwa digital wallet. Previously, only the SADAD payment method could be used to pay the work permit fee. Some bank cards provide services to recoup a portion of the money paid with them or to gain free points. As many establishments' fiscal year begins at the beginning of the Hijri year, the provision of the new service corresponds with the update at the start of the new fiscal year.

The Qiwa platform said that it updated the data of work permit fee for the fiscal year in the current week, which coincided with the updates of the financial years of establishments in the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development's (MHRSD) electronic services site.

In the second phase, which finished in the second quarter of the current year 2023, the platform began to suspend various electronic services for enterprises that had not documented 50 percent of the workers' contracts. The most essential of these stopped services are instant visas, service transfers, and requests to change profession. This follows MHRSD's decision to require enterprises to electronically record employment contracts using the platform in three stages.

Establishments will be obliged to document the contracts of about 80% of their employees by the end of the third quarter of the current year. For contract paperwork, there are several stages to take: These are the actions to take: Log in to the establishment's account; then choose the establishment; then electronic services; create a new contract; input the verification code issued to the mobile device; manage and record contracts; enter employee data, contract information, and upload the contract."

The ministry began shifting several services to the Qiwa platform, the most recent of which was the Ajeer programme, which specialises in organising temporary jobs and easing worker access. The programme combined platform access with statistics from the Qiwa platform itself. It is worth noting that the Qiwa platform offers ministerial services and solutions to improve the electronic services offered to the local employment sector.
