The teaching of earth and space sciences approved for the secondary school, by Education Ministry in Saudi

The Saudi Ministry of Education has authorised the inclusion of earth and space sciences in secondary school curriculum beginning in the academic year 1445, or 2023–2024.

In line with current trends, scientific and national standards in this sector, as well as worldwide best practises for academic courses, the ministry seeks to promote favourable attitudes towards space science among both male and female students.

According to ministry sources, by fusing theory and practise in the teaching and learning processes, the book on "earth and space sciences" enables students to advance their knowledge in the natural and applied sciences at the secondary level, which make up about 50% of the subject matter in the general track, the computer sciences and engineering track, and the health and life track.

Additionally, more time is spent studying about natural and applied sciences, and new disciplines including earth and space sciences, data science, artificial intelligence, cyber security, and engineering are also introduced.

In addition to exploring the connections between significant natural events in the cosmos, such as solar and lunar eclipses, the moon and the houses, and earth, air, space, and living beings, the new course introduces students to earth and space sciences.
