The third worldwide auction for falcon farms will begin on August 5. The Saudi Falcons Club's 21-day auction, held at its headquarters in Malham, north of Riyadh, is attracting falconry aficionados worldwide.
During the past two rounds of the auction, total purchases of more than 800 falcons exceeded SR10 million ($3.65 million). About 25 of the most prominent falcon farms took part. The forthcoming sale will involve six auction stages as part of the King Abdulaziz Falconry Festival. A free-range saker falcon was sold for SR270,000 ($72,000) in the first edition of the international auction, making it the most expensive of its kind in the Middle East. A US farm also sold a Garmousha Gear falcon for SR1.75 million ($466,000) at the show.
