NewsThis year's Hajj season was deemed a success, with over 1.5 million pilgrims using the Kingdom's airports and 3.2 million people using 102 different airlines. According to a General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) release, the number of travellers during the Hajj season this year climbed by more than 86% compared to 2022.
The GACA president, Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, emphasised the operational plan's accomplishments and success. Al-Duailej extended his gratitude to all the essential sectors in smoothly directing the flow of pilgrims at the airports during the Hajj season this year.
Indonesia was the most popular destination, according to flight data during the Hajj season, for both arriving and departing pilgrims. As per GACA data, India is second, followed by Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nigeria.
The "Bag-Free Hajj" project, which intended to enhance services for leaving pilgrims via airports, was also a success, handling more over 1.148 million bags and over 680,000 passengers on 2,200 flights.
Saudi Vision 2030, which includes a vision to increase air connectivity to 250 locations via the Kingdom's airports by 2030, intends to position Saudi Arabia as a dominant force in the Middle Eastern aviation industry.
