News EventThe Writers and Readers Festival came to an end on Wednesday in Khamis Mushayt, in the Asir area of the Kingdom. Part of the festivities included a symposium titled "History in Literature and Art," which was arranged by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission.
The discussion, which was hosted by Faisal Al-Shahrani and included Saudi novelist Abeer Al-Remal and author Faisal Al-Sarhan, focused on historical events that influenced literary works and their social significance.
Al-Remal said that readers who are interested in history should read the works of novelists, poets, and artists since they frequently provide backgrounds that historians miss. The three novels of the author, "The Desert Scandal," "If We Are Ghosts," and "Al-Jass," depict the famines, conflicts, and poverty that characterised the Najd and the western area in the eighteenth century.
According to Al-Sarhan, the historical context has influenced how emotion is expressed in books. Theauthor emphasised the book and the use of history in storytelling, contending that history itself offered a story. Through literary gatherings, musical performances, art displays, and interactive presentations, the festival honoured regional and worldwide writers.
