Automatic monitoring of the violation of not having valid insurance for vehicles will be commencing from October 1

Starting on Sunday, October 1, 2023, the Saudi General Traffic Department will begin implementing the automatic monitoring of the infringement of not having a valid insurance policy for automobiles. In all areas of the Kingdom, the violation of a vehicle will be electronically tracked once every fifteen days. It is notable that prior to the revisions made to the Traffic Law, a violation involving a lack of proper car insurance was punishable by a minimum punishment of SR100 and a maximum fine of SR150.

In the case that a car does not have a valid insurance policy, the agency said that automated monitoring of the infraction will be done for all vehicles on the roads. The agency urged all motorists, domestic and foreign, to follow traffic laws and directions and to make sure their cars were insured in order to protect their rights in the case of an accident.
