In an effort to give the Saudi riyal (SAR) a distinctive identity both domestically and internationally, the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) has issued eight new guidelines for its use. his action follows King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, formally approving the sign as part of Saudi Arabia's endeavor to strengthen its cultural and financial influence.
The purpose of the SAMA rules is to guarantee uniformity when the riyal symbol is used in different industries. For the sake of clarity, the symbol must always be positioned to the left of the number value, with a gap between.
Its height should be equal to the height of the surrounding text, and it should retain the proper geometric structure and proportions. For visual balance, a tiny area of empty space must encircle the symbol, which must also line up with the text's direction. Finally, the symbol's color should be sufficiently different from its background to make it stand out.
