NewsMadinah is showing its date industry during its yearly season. In the last three months, the business produced over 50 million kg of the fruit, contributing over $149 million to Saudi Arabia's GDP. With the theme "From Madinah to the World," the season showcases date varieties and emphasises the industry's economic importance via the participation of famous farmers and specialists.
Major malls and central hotels feature five cultural exhibitions. In addition to offering visitors thorough details of the fruit kinds, the displays serve popular regional dates and Saudi coffee. Moreover, agricultural seminars instruct participants on practical strategies for stopping the spread of pests.
According to the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, 321,000 tonnes of dates worth SR1.28 billion were sold by Saudi Arabia in 2022. Over 1.6 million tonnes of dates were produced annually in the Kingdom in 2022, with over 300 different types available as per the government.
The Kingdom is home to around 34 million date palms. With 11.2 million, the Qassim area has the most palm trees. Madinah (8.3 million) and Riyadh (7.7 million) come next. There are 4.1 million palm trees in the Eastern area.
