NewsThe first project in its enlarged portfolio has been revealed by Red Sea Global (RSG), the multi-project developer behind The Red Sea and Amaala, the most ambitious regenerative tourist destinations in the world. The work that has been assigned is the renovation of Al Wajh Airport (EJH). This development's main goal is to modernise the airport and bring it into compliance with international standards. RSG intends to build a new international terminal, the designs of which will be revealed soon, in addition to improving the current terminal and its infrastructure. With this strategic renovation, EJH will be better positioned for more direct flights, which will improve connectivity and provide jobs for the local population.
Additionally, EJH is expected to be crucial in supporting important local projects, serving as a gateway to RSG's Amaala destination. Most notably, Fly Red Sea, the Kingdom's first seaplane firm, plans to station itself at the airport. The initiative is in line with the Group's growing portfolio of aviation projects. The Red Sea International Airport (RSI), another project of RSG, achieved a significant milestone last month when it began offering regular domestic flights. Furthermore, RSG is currently working to build a second private airport close to Amaala and the Red Sea.
Four SAUDIA-operated flights from EJH to RSI will be rerouted as part of the modernisation operations at EJH. The flights will resume on a regular schedule on October 29 in order to improve connection between King Abdulaziz International Airport (RUH) in Riyadh and RSI. Flights to and from Jeddah's King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) will now be made easier by RSI. Automated redirection to RSI ensures smooth transitions for travellers with confirmed reservations to Al Wajh starting on October 29. The shuttle services between RSI and Umluj and Al Wajh Airport are free of charge offered by RSG.
In addition to these aeronautical advancements, reservations for RSG's first two hotels are now being accepted. When the destination is finished in 2030, it will include fifty resorts with more than 8,000 hotel rooms and 1,000 residential units spread across 22 islands and six inland locations. The location will include opulent marinas, golf courses, entertainment, fine dining, and recreational amenities, securing its place as one of the world's top travel destinations.
