NewsIn order to give real-time information on air quality, the National Centre for Environmental Compliance has erected 240 monitoring stations around the Kingdom. Every five minutes, the stations gather data on 22 distinct air components and update indications.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the stations' goal is to notify the people about the quality of air in their surroundings, allowing them to take required precautions when necessary. Ali Al-Qarni, the center's project supervisor, states that the allocation of the locations took into account population density as well as the existence of industrial cities and facilities with possible environmental effect.
According to Al-Qarni, the centre takes rapid action when the stations identify excessive levels of air pollution, in compliance with the executive laws of the environmental system. Some of the monitoring stations are movable and may be transferred to locations with increasing demand. He also stated that industrial cities will receive monthly reports to guarantee that air quality is maintained.
