Saudi Arabia will be introducing new regulations for business registration. There will be new regulations governing the use of family names as trademarks. Public comment has been solicited on previous rules.
New regulations are introduced by the Ministry to guarantee the security and openness of commercial registration names.
In order to do this, the Ministry of Commerce gathers public input while drafting the Act's final version. People can use the Istitla platform to voice their opinions.

After a firm applies for registration, it has 60 days to receive a trademark. Additionally, family names may be registered as trademarks. However, the applicant's family name must be part of their formal identity.
Regulations allow the use of names for cities, regions, and public areas. Similar names are not allowed to be used as trademarks. The ministry has threatened to take harsh action if such counterfeit trademarks are discovered.
