RIYADH: The Riyadh Metro network officially achieved full operational capacity on Sunday with the launch of the Orange Line, also referred to as the Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah Axis.
This milestone signifies the completion of the capital’s ambitious six-line metro system, marking a major advancement in modernizing urban transportation and supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiatives.
The Orange Line spans 41 km, linking Jeddah Road in the west with the Second Eastern Ring Road in the east, running parallel to Khashm Al-Aan.
Key stations along the route include Jeddah Road, Tuwaiq, Al-Dawh, Harun Al-Rashid Road, and An Naseem, which serves as a crucial interchange with the Purple Line, enhancing connectivity for both residents and visitors.
In conjunction with the Orange Line launch, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City announced the opening of three additional Blue Line stations: Al-Murooj, Bank Al-Bilad, and King Fahad Library. These new stations along the Al-Olaya-Al-Batha Axis further improve the network’s integration, linking major business districts, residential neighborhoods, and cultural sites.
With six lines, 176 kilometers of track, and 85 stations, the Riyadh Metro stands as one of the largest public transport projects in the region.
