Royal Commission for Riyadh City announced the launch of the fourth phase of Riyadh Bus service

As part of the King Abdulaziz Public Transport Project, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) announced on Thursday the start of the fourth phase of the Riyadh Bus service. By implementing the highest worldwide technical and technological standards, the King Abdulaziz Public Transport Project in Riyadh seeks to improve the urban environment while also improving public transport services in the capital of Saudi Arabia. In over 631,000 journeys from the project's inception in March 2023, more than 6.31 million people have been carried.

With the start of the fourth phase, there were 40 Riyadh Bus routes in total, with 614 vehicles serving them. These routes covered over 1,632 stations and stopping spots, accounting for 70% of the 1,900 km long transport network. In order to complete the Riyadh Bus network before the end of 2023, the project will proceed to launch the remaining phases.

Seven additional routes have been added as part of the fourth phase. Routes 932 and 933 will originate from the Al-Rabi' neighbourhood and stop at Al-Yasmeen and Al-Taawun, respectively, and Al-Nuzha and Al-Rabi' neighbourhood, respectively.

Starting at Al-Khaleej District and ending at Al-Rawda Station, Route 942, 945, and 944 will go from Al-Andalus Station to Al-Khaleej Station, Al-Khaleej District to Al-Nahda Station, and vice versa.

Regarding the other two lines, Route 948 will originate in the Yarmouk neighbourhood and terminate at Al-Yarmouk Station, while Route 947 will go from Al-Shuhadaa Station to Al-Munsiyah Station. By adding these routes, the bus service network will grow, people' experiences using public transit will be enhanced, and traffic congestion will be lessened. Additionally, it will increase the comfort and safety of passenger travel in Riyadh while also increasing efficiency and flexibility.

Support for the service is provided via the Riyadh Bus application, which offers several features like trip planning and interactive map tracking. The ability to buy tickets is another function that the app offers. Regarding the project's platform, which can be accessed at www.riyadhbus.sa, it offers a number of services to let travellers know about bus routes and how to buy tickets.

The Darb Card service, which can be obtained via ticket vending machines at Riyadh Bus stations or ticket sales offices, has been designated by the commission as a convenient way for passengers to pay their bus fares. There are several ways to buy tickets, each with a different price and duration: a 2-hour ticket costs SR4, a 3-day ticket costs SR20, a 7-day ticket costs SR40, and a 30-day ticket costs SR140.
