Saudi Arabia has announced the discovery of new natural gas fields in the Eastern Province and the Empty Quarter

New natural gas reserves found in the Eastern Province and the Empty Quarter were reported by Saudi Arabia on Sunday. Two natural gas reserves in the Empty Quarter and two more fields close to Dhahran and Hofuf in the Eastern Province were found by Saudi Aramco, according to Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman.

The Empty Quarter is where the Al-Hiran natural gas field was found, he claimed. Thirty million standard cubic feet of natural gas and one thousand barrels of condensate per day were released from the Hanifa reservoir at the Al-Hiran -1 well. In the same field, it was also found that 3.1 million standard cubic feet of gas were flowing from the Al-Arab - C reservoir every day.

Additionally, the minister declared the discovery of the Al-Mahakeek natural gas field following the release of 0.85 million standard cubic feet of gas per day from the Al-Mahakeek - 2 well. Additionally, five reservoirs in previously identified fields were found to contain natural gas. These include the finding of an additional natural gas reservoir in the Shadun field, west of the Markaz Haradh, and the Jallah reservoir in the Asikra field in the Empty Quarter, after gas flowed at a rate of 46 million standard cubic feet per day. After gas flowed at a rate of 15.5 million standard cubic feet per day together with around 460 barrels of condensate, natural gas was found in the Unayzah-A reservoir.

In the Mazaleej field southwest of Dhahran, natural gas was also found in the Unayzah B/C reservoir. There, the gas flowed at a rate of 14 million standard cubic feet per day together with roughly 4150 barrels of condensate per day. Additionally, natural gas was found in the Al-Qusaiba reservoir in the Awtad field, southwest of Hofuf, and the Al-Sara reservoir in the Al-Wodaihi field.

There was a daily flow of 11.7 million standard cubic feet of natural gas from the Al-Sara reservoir and 5.1 million standard cubic feet from the Al-Qusayba reservoir, together with around 57 barrels of condensate per day.

Prince Abdulaziz expressed his gratitude to Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, as well as Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, for their outstanding accomplishments. He also implored God Almighty to grant the Kingdom and its citizens continuous stability, safety, and prosperity.
