Saudi Arabia has secured a leading position in the Digital Regulatory Maturity Index, outpacing G20 countries

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) reports that Saudi Arabia has surpassed G20 nations to take the top spot in the Digital Regulatory Maturity Index. With this accomplishment, the Kingdom surpasses nations such as the US, France, Italy, China, Japan, and Russia.

The Communications, Space, and Technology Commission (CST) noted that cooperation between national and international organisations was responsible for this accomplishment. The founding of the Digital Regulatory Academy, innovative regulations, worldwide leadership, and the development of cutting-edge digital infrastructure are some of the major factors. These events highlight how much the telecom industry in Saudi Arabia has expanded over the last four years.

The modifications are in line with Saudi Vision 2030's overarching goals, which include fostering a favourable regulatory climate across industries, encouraging investment in the digital economy, and improving cooperation among regulators on shared concerns. The coordinated initiatives are intended to enhance the digital regulatory environment in important sectors. With the information and communication technology (ICT) industry forecast to reach SR154 billion in 2022, this accomplishment is anticipated to stimulate the expansion of the digital economy. In addition, it increases investment in the ICT industry, fosters competition, and upholds the Kingdom's strong position within the ITU.

The accomplishment of this goal is a direct result of CST's cooperative efforts with the National Cybersecurity Authority, the General Authority of Media Regulation, the National Cybersecurity Committee, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the Digital Government Authority, the Saudi Central Bank, the Saudi Data and AI Authority, the Transport General Authority, the General Authority for Competition, and the Consumer Protection Association.
