NewsAccording to the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), Saudi Arabia's application to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup received the best evaluation score in the tournament's history, 419.8 out of 500. This announcement is made in advance of the FIFA World Cup 2030 and 2034 host announcement, which will be made during the special FIFA Congress on December 11, 2024.
FIFA reviewed Saudi Arabia's stadiums, facilities, and potential host cities during an inspection tour in October as part of the evaluation process.
The bid was formally presented by Saudi Arabia in July with the theme "Growing. Together." It suggests holding games in 15 stadiums spread among five major cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Khobar, Abha, and NEOM, along with 10 more host sites. The bid also attempts to provide the first FIFA World Cup with 48 teams to be hosted in a single nation.
Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, which has established the Kingdom as a world leader in hosting important sporting events like the Formula 1 Grand Prix and FIFA Club World Cup, is also in line with the bid. By ensuring that the competition is both inventive and environmentally sustainable, it also promotes the Saudi Green Initiative.
