Saudi digital regulator completes all preparations to display name and identity of the mobile phone caller from Sunday, Oct. 1

Beginning on Sunday, October 1, 2023, the caller's name and identity will be displayed. The Saudi Arabian digital regulator, the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), has finished all necessary preparations. A rough technical specification for showing the caller's name and identity has previously been given by the Saudi digital regulator, CST. The device must be able to receive and show the caller's name and number for all technologies, and the caller's identity and number must be visible in the call log.

According to the CST, the new service intends to increase the dependability of calls made to users from legal companies and to make sure that communications networks are compatible with makers of mobile phone devices. The standard attempts to leverage contemporary technology to lessen spoofing calls, safeguard consumers, and lessen dependency on dubious programmes and services that invade callers' privacy. Additionally, it informs users about the function that displays the name of the linked party.

Users of the service, whether public or private, are only permitted to see the names of legal companies that have subscribed to the service with the service providers. The main goal of this standard is to make it possible for terminal devices using Saudi Arabian mobile networks to show the name of the party to whom they are connected.

By providing the name of the party making the call, it is an extra feature that helps the call's recipient to determine who is calling. Without the linked parties taking any effort to turn on this capability, the service providers can utilise it in their networks to identify the caller's name. In order to assist the feature's availability in their networks in accordance with the specifications, service providers of mobile and land phones were urged to adopt the necessary solutions.
