The Saudi Ministry of Interior has released instructions regarding the treatment, handling, and display of the national flag.
One of the main rules is that flags that are faded or in bad shape cannot be raised. When a flag wears out or becomes outdated, the organization in charge of it must dispose of it appropriately.
The government also made it clear that using the flag as part of a trademark or for commercial purposes is never acceptable.
The flag cannot be used to tie or carry objects, or to attach or imprint it on animals.
The flag should never be flown in a way that could create harm or chaos, and it should always be treated with respect.
Additional guidelines state that the flag cannot have any images, statements, or slogans printed on it.
It should be positioned so that it can stand freely and move organically on the mast. You should never raise the flag upside down or tie it up in a way that restricts its movement.
No surface, including the earth or the water, may ever come into contact with the national flag. Adding any logos is also forbidden, with the exception of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' insignia, which consists of two crossed swords on a palm tree that is positioned beside the flagpole in the lowest corner.
