NewsThe Riyadh Buses project's infrastructure for electronic payments has been verified to be ready by Saudi Payments, a fully owned subsidiary of the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).
Users of the Riyadh Buses will benefit from a variety of payment options, as Saudi Payments seeks to give users flexible payment options and speed up access to the buses by using contactless payment cards.
This action would demonstrate that the financial sector growth programme's objectives, which include increasing payment digitization, were met.
It is notable that the King Abdulaziz Public Transport Project's Riyadh Buses project has begun its first phase, as stated by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC).
The Riyadh Buses initiative will offer comprehensive solutions for the city's public transportation, making it easier for all societal groups to travel to and from their various destinations, including places of employment, educational institutions, places of entertainment, and more, by using the buses.
Since fewer people will need to drive, the project will considerably lessen Riyadh's severe traffic congestion.
The first portion of the project will operate more smoothly thanks to the partnership between Saudi Payments and the RCRC because it will give the project's beneficiaries access to 2,860 stations, 842 buses, and 80 bus lanes.
Beneficiaries will be able to make computerised payments using the Mada card and Darb card, which are pre-charged through the Mada system. This will increase people's reliance on electronic payments.
For the benefit of those who use Riyadh Buses, the Saudi Payments has worked to create the e-payment in the public transportation sector so that all payment methods can be made using smartphones and plastic cards via Near-Field Communication (NFC) — (Mada Atheer).
Additionally, Saudi Payments will make this technique available for use in all upcoming Saudi Arabian projects, and through the expansion of the acceptance of different e-payment options across various industries, it will help to build the payments infrastructure.
This action is taken to reaffirm Saudi Payments' position in advancing Saudi Arabia's payments infrastructure and increasing its preparedness for major national projects.
It is regarded as the national pillar of electronic payments and will offer secure, dependable, and user-friendly fundamental payment services.
