NewsAccording to a senior authority official, the e-commerce tour, which the Saudi E-Commerce Council and the Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority (Monsha'at) jointly organised, has drawn over 3,500 people so far.
Mahmoud Mazi, General Manager of Retail at Monsha'at said that more than 46 organisations and firms presented their business ventures during the tour's final three stops in Jeddah, Asir, and Riyadh. He said that about 500 people benefitted from one-on-one counselling sessions with specialists, and that about 1,000 people attended the courses.
Regarding e-commerce presentations, Mazi claimed that around 45 specialised events were available on the public Mazaya site. Enhancing direct contact and fostering connections amongst e-commerce enthusiasts around Saudi Arabia is one of the tour's objectives, particularly given the Kingdom's unique attributes that define the industry. These elements, according to Mazi, include a young population, affluent lifestyles, geographic location, and superior mobile and communications infrastructure that provide easy access to internet retailers.
According to Mazi, e-commerce won't replace traditional retail; rather, it will be a tool that helps businesses connect with customers wherever they are. This means that local goods will increasingly be available in international electronic stores even though they aren't physically located in Saudi Arabia. The tour, which seeks to encourage the adoption of e-commerce in the operations of small and medium firms, is being attended by a group of e-commerce professionals and specialists.
