News EventThe international conference "Women in Islam: Status and Empowerment" is being held in Jeddah on Monday by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. The purpose of the three-day celebration is to honour Muslim women's historical accomplishments. Its goals are to oppose false propaganda that depicts Islam as a barrier to women's rights and to highlight the contributions made by women to the development of OIC member states.
The conference seeks to demonstrate how Islamic teachings have continuously supported the values of fairness and justice for women. It also aims to provide a thorough strategy for political and legal changes that would advance Islamic cultures' commitment to justice and women's emancipation.
The Jeddah Document for Women in Islam, a comprehensive document outlining important objectives and tactics for accomplishing this aim, is also anticipated to be adopted. Throughout the conference's five working sessions, ministers, officials, academics, and intellectuals will discuss women's rights and position in Islam. Together with a host of other topics pertaining to women in modern society, they will evaluate the possibility of empowering Muslim women via work and education.
The 49th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, held in Mauritania in March, saw Saudi Arabia propose to organise a conference with the primary goal of empowering women. A government decision supporting the project was approved by the council. The action demonstrates Saudi Arabia's commitment to promoting women's empowerment both domestically and in line with its support for similar initiatives in the OIC and the larger international arena. The goal of these initiatives is to improve the status of women in the field of holistic development.
